Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say, "If it is the Lord's will, we will live and do this or that." James 4:14
Remember the Garth Brooke song "Unanswered Prayers"? How many times have we prayed for something and not received it? Garth reflects on how he prayed to be married to his high school sweetheart. He ended up marrying someone else and thanks God for that. Sometimes we think we know what is best for us in our lives. Then when we don't receive the answer to our prayer we think God isn't listening. We need to remind ourselves that God know's best. When praying we should always say "if it's your will" because then we are entrusting Him with our needs. If it is meant to happen for us, it will if God thinks it is best. Remember how Jesus taught us to pray with the Lord's prayer? "Thy will be done." We must trust that and accept that as Christians! May God's will work in your life!
