Dedicated to my Grandmother

My Grandma, Marcie, was my best friend and like a second Mom to me. Sadly, she passed away on May 4, 2004 and is now with her Heavenly Father. My Grandma meant the world to me and the world just doesn't seem right with her not in it.

Grandma taught me so much and I practice her lessons everyday in my life. She taught me how to love, share, laugh and have compassion. She talked to me about the importance of standing up for yourself and to not let people push you around. She taught me that I need to be strong in times of stress and to use laughter as a tool to cope during the bad times.

She was such a courageous woman. She suffered with illness her whole life, yet, she could always manage to think of others first and let them know she loved them. Life with Grandma was never dull! It was always about laughter and happiness. There were tears too but they were always washed away with hugs and kisses.

Grandma was a fantastic cook and a visit to her home always meant a wonderful layout of food and take home containers. I love to cook and I think that I got that from her. We were always exchanging recipes and talking about our special creations in the kitchen. Another thing we enjoyed doing together was going to garage sales looking for that "perfect" bargain! I had so much fun with her in everything we did and did the most laughing when with her.

Now that she is gone I have surrounded myself with her memory by displaying all her bluebirds she left me and hugging the stuffed toys that I had given her over the years. I have found some special writings in some of the books given to me and it makes me smile to see what ideas Grandma had about what she was reading. I found this in a Grandmother book that Mom gave to me that I had given Grandma in 1999. It was a quote by Arthur Kornhaber and this is what it said:

Let your grandchildren know, through words and deeds, that the bond of affection which attaches the two of you to one another can never be broken.
At the bottom of the page she wrote "Sherry and me."

Thank you Grandma for that because it helps me to realize that even though you are not here in the flesh you ae here in spirit with me and that gives me a great sense of peace. I love you and will miss you always.
